University entry qualifications

For admission to a degree programme at our university, applicants must provide proof of their university entrance qualification.

⇒ Certified copy of school leaver's certificate

Depending on the form in which you obtained your advanced technical college entrance qualification for studying at a university of applied sciences, you must submit the following evidence (in certified form) with your application documents:

⇒ Certificate of advanced technical college entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (academic element)
⇒ Proof of a year spent in a voluntary social role / state voluntary service / voluntary environmental gap year
or
⇒ Proof of qualification as an assistant (vocational school, vocational college encompassing several years)
or
⇒ Proof of internship required to obtain the advanced technical college entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences - issued by the internship organisation (with details of the period of time and the activity, field of work and hours per week). If the internship has not been completed by the application deadline, you must submit provisional proof of the date by which the internship will have been completed.
or
⇒ Proof of complete vocational training (IHK or HWK chamber of commerce examination certificate, journeyman's certificate or journeyman's examination certificate)
⇒ Full certification of your advanced technical college entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (which certifies that you have demonstrated completion of the academic and practical elements and thus attainment of the targeted advanced technical college entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences. You will receive proof of this after submitting your previous practical training to your school).

Please note: The academic element of the advanced technical college entrance qualification is not sufficient for a course of study in the fields of social work and practical theology at our university. The complete advanced technical college entrance qualification is equivalent to a higher education entrance qualification.

Applicants with vocational qualifications (qualified vocational training and work experience) as well as applicants who have passed a master craftsman's examination or a comparable further training examination must submit the following documents (in officially certified form):

⇒ Proof of complete vocational training with a qualified result (grade point average of at least 2.5) (officially certified copy)
•    Final certificate of the chamber with details of the grades (officially certified copy)
•    Final certificate of the vocational school (officially certified copy)
or
⇒ Proof of a further training examination - if available (officially certified copy)
or
⇒ Proof of having passed the master craftsman's examination or master craftsman-equivalent examination (e.g. educator) with overall grade (officially certified copy)
⇒ In case of vocational training abroad, corresponding recognition must be submitted. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) is responsible for recognising foreign vocational school qualifications. Visit the webpage www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de/html/de/ to find out which office or chamber is responsible for which vocational qualification. You can call the following hotline for advice in German or English: +49 30-1815-1111

If you are not yet in possession of your higher education entrance qualification at the time of your application (e.g. because you are currently completing your university entrance examination or the practical element of the advanced technical college entrance qualification), you can still submit your application. Please state this in your application and enclose a certified copy of your most recent certificate. The required proof of your higher education entrance qualification must be submitted as an officially certified copy immediately upon receipt.

To study at our university for the combined Bachelor's degree programme in the field of Health and Welfare, the academic element of the advanced technical college entrance qualification is sufficient. You obtain the practical element of the advanced technical college entrance qualification during the first phase of your course with your exam, during vocational training at one of our partner schools. You can find more information about the admission requirements HERE.

If you wish to study at a university in Germany, you require a university entrance qualification. If your university entrance qualification has been acquired abroad, it is necessary to examine to what extent this is equivalent to the German university entrance qualification. All individuals who have acquired their university entrance qualification at an institution that is not in Germany, or that does not apply German university entrance examination regulations (e.g.: A-Levels, High School Diploma, Baccalaureate, etc.), must submit ⇒uni-assist pre-assessment documentation with their application.

Who does this rule not apply to?

•  Students who would like to study at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences for 1-2 semesters, e.g. students from partner universities that have concluded a cooperation agreement with the Catholic University of Applied Sciences.

• Students who have passed an assessment test at a preparatory college and obtained recognition of their foreign education certificates with an identified average grade.

• Course applicants who are already able to submit recognition of their foreign education certificates issued in Germany, with an identified average grade.

The nationality of the applicants is irrelevant.
